What does a Loggerhead Sea Turtle eat

Although feeding behavior may change with age, this species is carnivorous throughout its life and feed mostly on shellfish that live on the bottom of the ocean. They eat horseshoe crabs, shrimps, clams, sea urchins, sponges, fishes, squids, octopuses, mussels and other invertebrates.Picture of a Loggerhead sea turtle.
The powerful jaws enable them to easily crush the hard shells of their prey. During migration through the open sea, loggerheads eat jellyfishes, floating molluscs, floating egg clusters, squids and flying fishes. Even though Loggerheads are not considered as fish eaters, the sometimes eat smaller fish or fish parts. Hatchlings eat small animals living in seagrass mats which are often distributed along drift lines and eddies.
It is commonly seen feeding on the Man O' War. The Loggerhead Turtle's skin is too thick for the stinger to penetrate and launch its venom.
