The The Sea Turtle


Since juvenile and male sea turtles never come ashore they're very difficult to count. So the population figures are often a qualified guess.
Therefore population data usually are based on the number of adult females that nest. This is of course not very precise for many reasons. Some females nest more than once every season. This can both be on the same beach, but also on different beaches close to each other. Furthermore the period between seasons are not fixed. This means that some females nest every 2 years others every 4 years - even within the same species.
