Treads of the Sea Turtle

As adults sea turtles has few enemies. Tiger sharks and killer whales are known for eating turtles. Fishes, dogs, seabirds, raccoons, ghost crabs, and other predators prey on eggs and hatchlings. More than 90% of hatchlings are eaten by predators.
One of their most significant threats now comes from by catch due to various fishing methods; long-line fishing has been blamed as one of the causes of accidental sea turtle deaths. Thousands of sea turtles drown in commercial shrimp nets each year. Shrimpers accidentally entangle turtles that are foraging where trawlers are working.A Leatherback building a nest.
Propeller and collision injuries from boats are not uncommon. These types of injuries are more frequent in areas with a high level of recreational boating, such as southern Florida, the Florida Keys, and the United States Virgin Islands.

The eggs are collected many places around the world and sold. With a nest containing 80-120 eggs every nest that gets sold has a big impact on future for the sea turtles.
