The primary volunteer duties are carried out at night when the sea turtles leave the ocean to lay their eggs and include patrolling the beach, even in stormy weather, collecting turtle eggs, and releasing hatchlings to the sea. By joining in this extraordinary event volunteers will realize that their help truly improves the odds of survival for these gentle creatures. In addition to working on turtle patrol the volunteers are expected to help with cooking and cleaning duties in the camp. |
| |
Volunteers will be asked to donate a minimum of $45 pesos a day (approx $4.50 USA) These donations will go to fund the running of our camp. |
| |
You can help with the realization of the project objectives by patrolling the beaches at night together with the local inhabitants, guarding the hatchery and support the agricultural activities (mowing, sowing, digging and harvesting) and in the off-season (November - December) help with maintenance of the buildings and preperations for the next season by creating an ideal environment for turtles to lay their eggs. |
